More than 16,000 transportation industry leaders from
around the world will convene at the public transportation industry's
EXPO 2005 -- the industry's largest and most comprehensive exhibition
in North America -- in Dallas, Texas from September 23-28.
Held only every three years, EXPO 2005 is organized by
the American Public Transportation Association (APTA). It will bring together
more than 800 of the world's premiere manufacturers and suppliers of the
most advanced transit equipment, technologies and innovations. EXPO 2005
coincides with APTA's annual meeting. The Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART)
is co-sponsor of the event.
The theme this year, "Public Transportation: Getting
Down to Business," will focus on cutting edge advances in the knowledge,
professional skills and business practices of individuals and organizations
in the industry. Attendees will have access to suppliers of the latest
high-tech public transportation products, services and technologies designed
to make transit more convenient, modern, efficient and profitable. More
than 50 educational sessions as well as technical tours and networking
opportunities will be offered to meet the specific needs of every transit
professional.
EXPO 2005 and APTA's Annual Meeting will provide industry
leaders with the most up-to-date solutions and ideas for every aspect
of today's transportation business from procurement and maintenance to
engineering and operations.
Some of EXPO 2005's featured highlights include state-of-the-art
advances in security technologies and bus and rail-related vehicles. The
latest innovations in smart card technologies and customer information
will also be showcased.
"Our industry is making exciting new advances in
technology and services," said William Millar, APTA's president.,"EXPO
2005 will provide the opportunity for attendees to find out everything
they need to know in every category of transit products and services,"
he added.
Another highlight of this year's program is the APTA
Matchmaking Service, which will allow attendees to quickly and automatically
identify the exhibitors of products and services that are of specific
interest to them. The Web-based service, offered free of charge to attendees,
also will let transit officials schedule on-site meetings with appropriate
sales representatives in advance.
Registration is free for EXPO 2005. For additional information,
