Yesterday, across the country, voters resoundingly approved
a record number of ballot initiatives supporting public transportation.
The message is loud and clear - people want more public transportation.
From suburban to urban to rural communities, the success of these initiatives
proves that people are willing to invest in quality transit services that
will pay dividends for years to come. Voters clearly said that they deserve
a better quality of life that available public transportation brings,
namely, less congestion, cleaner air and access to jobs.
Yesterday's pro-transit referendum tallies clearly point to a public
mandate for more public transportation.
