  • America's 2007 Independence Day Parade:
    Location: Constitution Avenue between 7th and 17th Streets, NW
    Start Time: 11:45 a.m. sharp

    The parade features invited bands, military and specialty units, floats, giant balloons, equestrian participants, drill teams, celebrities and more.

How to get there: Get off at any of the following metro stations: Arlington National Cemetery, Rosslyn, Pentagon, Foggy Bottom, Farragut West, McPherson Square, Federal Triangle, Metro Center, Gallery Place-Chinatown, Capitol South, L'Enfant Plaza, Federal Center SW, Archives-Navy Memorial, Judiciary Square and Union Station.

The Smithsonian Metro station will be closed on the Fourth.

  • National Symphony Orchestra and several pop artists perform patriotic music in a live concert on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol Building. There will be a display of fireworks after the concert. The concert is free and open to the public. No tickets are necessary.
    Time: 8 - 9:30 p.m. (Admittance begins at 2:30 p.m.) Location: West Lawn of the U. S. Capitol

Take Metro to Union Station on the Red line or Capitol South on the Blue/Orange lines.

    Screen on the Green is a free outdoor summer series of classic movies shown on the National Mall on five Monday nights.

How to get there: Metro stations nearby include Metro Center, Gallery Place-Chinatown, Judiciary Square, Federal Triangle and L'Enfant Plaza.
