July 4th and summer celebrations accessible via public transportation

  • Chicago's Navy Pier will host fireworks while visitors can also enjoy a variety of activities including live entertainment from local artists. The event is open to all ages.

How to get there:
Take a bus to Navy Pier's front entrance - the #29 (State Street), the #65 (Grand Avenue), the #56 (Milwaukee Avenue) or the #66 (Chicago Avenue). During weekday rush hours, the #120 (Northwestern/Wacker Express) and #121 (Union/Wacker Express) serve Navy Pier and their respective Metra train terminals.

  • The Bally Total Fitness Race to Taste 5k Run & 2-Mile Walk July 1 The event will take place in conjunction with the largest outdoor food and free music festival. Taste of Chicago opens after the race at 11:00 am. Where: Grant Park, Corner of Balbo & Columbus Time: 8:30am-10:30am

  • Millennium Park, Family Fun Festival Performance Tent
    July 29 and July 30th

As part of the Family Fun Festival series, the Doo-Dads (A Rock & Roll Band for Kids) will be appearing at Chicago’s Millennium Park on Sunday at 2pm and on Monday at 2pm and 4pm. Details at: www.millenniumpark.org or http://www.thedoodads.com/

  • Viva! Chicago Latin Music Festival

August 25-26
The annual free festival is one of the biggest celebrations of Latin culture in Chicago. It takes place in the city’s Grant Park at starts at 10:30am. Next to live music, the festival also includes an arts and crafts fair and numerous food and drinks stalls.

  • Chicago Jazz Festival
