OVERVIEW
Communities In Motion is the public transportation
industry's special day to educate, promote and celebrate the benefits
of public transportation and to showcase how transit benefits communities
by providing personal opportunity to individuals.
On October 5, 2006, the transit community will
join together to celebrate Communities In Motion. Many transit agencies
around the country will be participating in a number of Communities
In Motion activities that highlight the importance of public transportation
in the community. This year the theme is Public Transportation:
The Fabric That Connects.
Public Transportation: The Fabric that Connects
Furthering the notion that public transportation
helps form the intricate fabric of communities many transit agencies
around the country will promote the literal connection between public
transit as a vital service to the fabric of your community by collecting
new or gently used blankets and donating them to a local charity.
By participating in Communities In Motion, you
will help build support for public transportation which provides
people from all walks of life access to opportunities to accomplish
what is important to them, making the community stronger and more
vibrant.
